Through its multi-purpose and modern port facilities, APM Terminals Bahrain plays a key role in facilitating external trade and marine services through Container Terminal activities, General Cargo, RoRo, Cruise and related port services, thus contributing significantly to Bahrain’s economic growth.
Managing one of the few multi-purpose ports in the region, APM Terminals Bahrain provides a wide range of services at KBSP, including the provision of container operations, General Cargo, RORO, break bulk projects, and passenger terminal services alongside its Marine and logistical services that are comparable to the highest international standards.
APM Terminals Bahrain also offers a whole range of Value Added Services, that have been built around customer needs. The objective is to ensure that customers receive a seamless experience by reducing complexity for them when purchasing different services in the market.

Reliability
APM Terminals Bahrain’s Equipment Maintenance and Repair (EMR) department uses a Total Productive Maintenance program, designed to maximize equipment reliability and performance. In 2016, operators and maintenance teams were trained in new skill sets to reach the goal of reducing equipment breakdowns by 90% in three years.
Efficiency
APM Terminals Bahrain’s employs a Differential Global Positioning System on terminal RTGs. The system ensures that container positions are updated automatically, eliminating the possibility of human error and creating a safer working environment. Reduced handling times will yield higher productivity.

A General Cargo Terminal Operation System with VGM functionality, reduces paperwork and make it easier for customers to see cargo activities through a more customer-friendly interface. Terminal customers have improved access to better reports, tracking and monitoring. The system also allows APM Terminals Bahrain to carry out sophisticated statistical analysis for optimum resource deployment.
Ownership
APM Terminals Bahrain B.S.C. is a public listed company incorporate the Kingdom of Bahrain on 11 May 2006 and listed on Bahrain Bourse on 9 December 2018. It’s the exclusive manager and operator of Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), the only general commercial port facility in Bahrain and handles all containerized cargo to and from Bahrain in addition to general cargo.
APM Terminals B.V. (Netherlands), part of A.P.Moller-Maersk is a global leader in the management and operation of ports and inland services. It owns majority (64%) of the Company. Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo (Holdings) Co. W.L.L. 16% of its shares and remaining 20% is owned by various corporate and individual shareholders.
The Company has an exclusive 25 years concession from the Bahrain Government to manage and operate KBSP effective from 1 April 2009. This Concession is renewable with mutual consent of the Company and the Bahrain Government.
