Lifting the standard of connectivity between Onne and Port Harcourt
West Africa Container Terminals and Max Shipping Services have teamed up to provide you with a seamless barge service that operates regularly (or on demand for larger requests) between Onne and IBETO Port & Terminal in Port Harcourt, Nigeria's fifth largest city.
Think of IBETO Port - a secure, fully customs bonded facility - as a conveniently located extension of the West Africa Container Terminal.
Benefits
Faster: Average of 3 hours by barge vs 4 by road to Port Harcout
Cost Effective: More than NGN 150,000 cheaper per container compared to road transfers
Reduced storage charges: 10 free storage days at WACT in addition to 3 free storage days at IBETO
Peace-of-mind: Reduced risk cargo damage or delays due to traffic, accidents or poor road surface
Convenience: Less travel time to clear your cargo and close proximity for returning empty containers
If you’re located in or close to Port Harcourt, you can save yourself 4 hours of driving time, by picking-up your imports or dropping off your exports at IBETO Port and Terminal.
On top of 10 days free storage at WACT, you get an extra 3 days of free storage at IBETO Port & Terminal to give you a bit more breathing space whenever you need it – without being charged.
Equipped with modern Container Freight Station facilities, IBETO Port & Terminal can also (de)consolidate your cargo into or out of containers.
Imports can be cleared by customs at either WACT or IBETO Port & Terminal, whichever is most convenient for you. Think of the time saved travelling if required to be present for customs clearance.
To make sure your containers all arrive at the same time, we can also offer Import Through Bill of Lading at IBETO Port & Terminal to speed up your logistics.
Return you empty containers to IBETO Port & Terminal for extra convenience, time and cost savings.
Initially, barges will pendal between WACT and IBETO Port & Terminal twice per week. As volumes grow, we have the option to increase the frequency. Each barge can carry up to 20 containers.
For larger customers, with a minimum of 20 containers, we will add an additional dedicated barge, with no waiting times.
The barges have full insurance coverage and are fully licensed by the Nigerian Ports Authority.
· Inform your shipper to make the booking as TBL (Through Bill of Lading) to Max Shipping Via APM Terminals Onne and include the transit clause (in transit to Max Shipping Services Ltd, Port Harcourt)
· When cargo arrives from the main vessel, cargo is discharged and stacked at a dedicated stacking area within WACT’s yard.
· Behind the scenes we’ll organize the relevant custom’s paperwork and once it’s ready we’ll bill you for Terminal Handling Charges (THC)
· Once payment of THC to WACT is confirmed, we load the cargo to barge.
· Units are then discharged at Max shipping container yard, Port Harcourt for customer to clear and take delivery.
