Rail-out by Bill of Lading

For sea shipments, shipping lines issue a Bill of lading with specific number of containers according to details provided by shippers/exporters. APM Terminals Pipavav offers rail-out of import containers under same BL - discharged and stacked for railing out together on same rake for respective ICDs.

At the discharge port, due to differences in discharge timing, most of the time containers under same B/L get stacked separately. This results in the rail-out of these containers on different rakes/different days (First-in First-out principal). The Rail-Out by Bill of Lading service allows consignees to get their containers railed out on same rake/same day from APM Terminals Pipavav port so that all containers under one Bill of Lading can be cleared together at destination with less hassle.

BL wise rail out facility does not assure any early/priority rail out of any of container. It’s an assurance/support that the nominated containers would be railed out together on a single rake. All containers would follow the first-in first-out principle.

Benefits:

  • With timely and availability of all containers together under single BL, customers can custom clear the containers at ICDs (Inland Container Depot) without any hassle.
  • Customer can avoid any unnecessary detention/ground charges or delay in custom clearance.
  • Complete visibility about rail out of all containers together on same rake.
  • Simplification of supply chain.

  • Customer may raise the request and select all or few of the containers from single BL as per requirement.
  • Product is subject to operational feasibility.
  • Note that this service does not provide an early/priority rail out. Its an assurance/support that the nominated containers will rail out together on single rake. All containers would follow First in- First out principle.
