APM Terminals Yucatán Renews Certification Granted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection

APM Terminals Yucatán, the gateway to international trade for southeastern Mexico, has successfully renewed its certification as a member of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program, granted by the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This certification acknowledges the company’s strict adherence to international standards in physical, digital, and operational security across the supply chain.

CTPAT is a voluntary initiative that strengthens public-private collaboration to secure global trade, positioning certified companies as trusted partners in international commerce. The certification validates the security protocols implemented by APM Terminals at its Progreso, Yucatán facility, which has been in operation since 2005 and plays a strategic role in trade between Mexico and the United States.

“This renewal reaffirms our position as a reliable and strategic partner for international supply chains, particularly in support of bilateral trade with the United States. At APM Terminals Yucatán, we take a long-term view to foster logistical development and act as a catalyst for the industrial growth of Yucatán and the broader southeast region of Mexico,” stated Beatriz Yera, Managing Director of APM Terminals Mexico.

Currently, approximately 33% of the terminal’s throughput at the Port of Progreso is exported to the United States, highlighting its essential role as an international logistics platform and enabler of nearshoring and market diversification for companies based in Yucatán and neighboring states.

APM Terminals has been a CTPAT member since 2003, when its North American headquarters signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CBP. This latest validation reinforces the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and to upholding the highest standards of security throughout every stage of the logistics process.
